Sometimes I wonder why I do things to myself like buy curlers for my daughter. It's a gesture that seems innocent enough but I should know by now that it just doesn't work that way. I was about to lose my mind trying to keep the curlers from being maimed and destroyed until after her bath. And her asking me all day- "is it time for a bath yet? can we put the curlers in now?" These are the kinds of things that will inevitably have me institutionalized one day. After her bath she sat so still and let me put them all in. She even slept in them without a complaint and had half of them pulled out before she even got to my bedroom the next morning. She was just too excited!
So anyway, here's some pictures of the big event. Hopefully she will continue to love them and we can curl her hair every once in a while... or every day with the excitment these curlers seem to be holding over this child.
She was disappointed that I didn't put the pink curlers in her hair but those ones were the biggest. In fact, next time I do this, I will only use the blue. The curls from the yellow curlers fell out far faster than the curls from the blue curlers. Just in case you wanted to know...
The sponge curlers were not only exciting to Sara, but to the entire family. All the kids had to be in the pictures. Taylor was the one who handed me each and every curler as I put them in Sara's hair and Livvy, well, I think she was trying to eat them. What a great bunch of helpers! Taylor even mentioned at one point that he wished he was a girl so that he could get sponge curlers put in. Right buddy. Don't say that too loud.
I'm slightly less motivated about everything in my pregnant state. That includes taking pictures (gasp). I had every intention of getting her picture that morning after we pulled the curlers out but unfortunately my level of motivation at that time of day is about -53. I finally pulled the camera out at about 9:00 that night, just before bed. Lovely. Although her hair was slightly crazy, I like how it stayed curly all day. And I didn't even put hair spray in her hair. A.ma.zing.

CUTE. How did you get them to stay in all night with her thin hair and 87 rollers????
So cute. We used to do curlers every Saturday night so they would have curly hair on Sunday. It gets to be a bigger pain when the hair get longer and you have two heads to do. So the curler thing has died here. Although, occasionally Hali does inquire.
Too cute! Who knew it could be fun for the whole family! It seems like the small ones I used as a kid were pink but now they are blue. You can get a pack of tiny blue one's at Walmart although they sell out pretty fast.
Abby and Aspen love curler nights. I however lost the motivation to do them on a regular basis, so they are pulled out on special occasions--meaning when mom has at least a small reserve of patience at the end of the day. Kara only has enough hair for one small curler in each pigtail, so she gets them more often.
Sara looks way cute! Good job!
My girls love the roller curlers. Emma's going to have to wait a few months (or years!) till we can put them in her hair again!
Your mom and her will have to get together. =0
You are amazing. I've done curlers several times on my girls hair and it is always (always, always) a disaster. I must put them in wrong. Their hair comes out looking like a wacky version of Annie. It's just scary. They cry and then we have to wash their hair for the normal looking girl to return. I may just be by for some curler tips. . .
I love the excitement on her face!! Darling!
